Celtic defeated St. Mirren 3-2 in the 38th (and final) round of the 2023-24 Scottish Premiership at Celtic Park in Glasgow, Scotland, at 8:30 p.m. ET on Aug. 18. Celtic finish the season with 93 points.
Going into the game, Celtic had already clinched the league title. A victory over Kilmarnock on Dec. 16 sealed the title, extending their lead over second-place Rangers to six points. Celtic have been top of the league for three consecutive seasons, starting with the 2021-22 campaign. They also won their 54th top-flight title, trailing Rangers (55) by one point.
With the title already clinched, there was a possibility of a rotation against St. Mirren. However, Brendan Rodgers stuck with his starting XI. Palma, Furuhashi, Quinn, Hatate, McGregor, O'Reilly, Taylor, Navroski, Welsh, Ralston, and Hart started. Yang Hyun-joon and Oh Hyun-kyu didn't even make the bench.
Yang hasn't played in four straight matches since his start against St. Mirren in April. He was even left out of the roster for the last three games. With his absence, Yang ends the season with one goal and three assists in 24 league appearances this season.
