Avery and Logan were best friends throughout much of their childhood, and their bond has evolved into a romantic relationship. However, significant life opportunities lead Avery to London, while Logan's desperation jeopardizes their future together. A decade later, Logan is in a relationship with Cassie and is striving to succeed in commercial real estate. The couple is en route to Cassie’s family home for the holidays, where they will encounter her demanding mother, Erica. Also joining the festivities is Cassie’s brother, Cameron, who has been in a long-term relationship with Avery. The unexpected reunion between the former lovers surprises them both, prompting a plan to keep their past hidden. Logan seeks Avery's assistance with work-related issues, while Avery needs Logan's help to win over Erica, who disapproves of her.
