Cole Palmer has signed a new contract extension with Chelsea, according to reports.
David Onstein, a journalist familiar with the European transfer market, tweeted on Wednesday (June 13), "Exclusive. Palmer has committed his future to Chelsea with a two-year contract extension. He was already contracted until 2031, but the extension will take him through June 2033."
If Palmer plays until June 2033, he will have played for Chelsea for 10 years. He made his Chelsea debut in the 2023-24 season and will wear the Blues colors until the 2032-33 season.
Palmer came up through the Manchester City youth ranks and made his professional debut with the Blues. However, he was largely relegated to the bench behind the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden, and Bernardo Silva as the club's top two strikers. His potential was clear, but he lacked the opportunity to showcase it. Pep Guardiola consistently ignored Palmer, which led to him seeking a move away.
He left Man City for Chelsea last season. At Chelsea, he was able to showcase his talents to the fullest. Palmer played on the right wing, attacking midfield, and everywhere in between. He started playing from the fourth round of the league, pushing himself up the ranks, and scored his first offensive point in the eighth round of the league. From then on, Palmer became Chelsea's boy wonder. He racked up goal after goal and assist after assist as Chelsea slipped down the table.
Palmer has 22 goals and 11 assists in the league. His pace was so good that at one point he was tied for the top scorer with top goalscorer Elling Holland. In the 파워볼실시간 FA Cup and English Football League Cup (EFL Cup), Palmer added three goals and four assists, making him Chelsea's 'ace in the hole'.Palmer's performance was particularly impressive at the end of the season. Chelsea spent most of the season hovering around 10th-11th place before making a dramatic surge at the end. They beat Manchester United 4-3 to finish sixth in the league. Palmer's performance during this period was key. In seven games in March and April, Palmer scored 10 goals and provided three assists.
Chelsea rewarded him for his successful debut season. They showed their faith in their ace by signing him to a two-year contract extension. Palmer will have a new manager for the upcoming season. Mauricio Pochettino, who trusted him until last season, is gone and Enzo Maresca is in charge.
Palmer has worked hard to get fit for his second season at Chelsea. After finishing runner-up at the UEFA Euro 2024, he was immediately back in the Chelsea squad and was spotted lifting weights. He recently played 45 minutes in a friendly against Inter Milan.
