Description
Nickel Boys Flixtor: Elwood, played by Ethan Herisse, is an excellent student. He is thoughtful and intelligent, and with his progressive teacher's help, he is ready for college. However, his hopes are dashed when he is suspected of being an accomplice to a stolen car in an uncomfortable, discriminating, and inappropriate situation. In the 1960s, he is transferred to Nickel Academy, a violent and poisonous reformatory institution in the Jim Crow South in Florida.
There, Elwood meets Turner (Brandon Wilson), a fellow Black adolescent who challenges ideas and serves as a companion and confidante. Turner responds with deserved cynicism, but Elwood clings to the optimism he was raised with. Their bodies and minds are collateral in the cyclical, systemic racism they are enmeshed in, which is essentially broken.
