Description
Julian Alvarez, 24, will finally wear an Atletico Madrid (ATM) jersey.
ATM officially announced on its official site on Wednesday that it had signed Alvarez on a six-year contract.
The transfer fee is a bit different. British '90MIN' reported that the transfer fee for Alvarez was up to 95 million euros (KRW 142.3 billion), while 'Fabrizio Romano', who is familiar with the European soccer transfer market, reported that it was 85 million euros (about KRW 127.7 billion) including add-ons.
That's about 140 billion won. It became the "most expensive player sale" in Manchester City's history. Some soccer fans questioned whether his transfer was too expensive. It"s certainly not cheap, but we wouldn"t call it expensive. Alvarez has had an incredible career.
Alvarez is an Argentine striker born in 2000. He joined City in January 2022 and has been with the club ever since, except for a loan spell at CA River Plate until July of the same year.
Most notably, in 2022-23, City won the UEFA Champions League (UCL), the domestic FA Cup, and the English Premier League (EPL). Alvarez contributed significantly to the 'treble' with 17 goals and four assists in 49 official appearances that season.
The national team is also great. Argentina's national soccer team has won the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar, the Finalsima 2022 against the UEFA Euro 메이저사이트 winners, and the CONMEBOL 2024 Copa America, so there's hardly a cup left to win.
Last season, he was no different. In 39 games as a starter, he scored 19 goals and added 13 assists for a total of 32 offensive points, especially in the league, where he started a whopping 31 times.
What makes these numbers seem less impressive is the power of Elling Holland (24). In the Treble season, Holland was the best offensive player in the world with 52 points and nine assists in 50 games. Last season, he had 37 points and six assists in 36 games.
He was good enough to be a starter. ATM recognized this ability and snatched him up for a hefty transfer fee. Now Alvarez's job is to win the hearts of the fans with performances that make the fee look cheap.
Now, he'll play in ATM's jersey. This coming Tuesday, October 20, they will face Villarreal in the opening match of the 2024-25 La Liga season. Alvarez will be ready.
