World Tourism Day 2024 will be celebrated on December 27 under the theme/slogan of TOURISM: BUILDING A BETTER WORLD! announced today a communique from the H.E. Professor Dr. Anton Caragea and The President Office of the European Council on Tourism and Trade and the European Tourism Academy.
The Autumn 2023 Meeting of the European Council on Tourism and Trade and the official celebrations of world tourism took place at the headquarters of the global tourism institution.
The events had taken place under the leadership of Professor Dr. Anton Caragea, European Council on Tourism and Trade President and a string of key decisions for tourism and culture future in 2024 had been taken.
The main issues debated were the selection of the 2024 host cities for World Tourism Day at the European Council on Tourism and Trade, and the announcement of the official theme of the next year tourism celebration for the European Tourism Academy and the European Council on Tourism and Trade.
This theme will be instrumental also in the selection of new candidates for hosting world tourism awards ceremonies in 2023.

Addis Ababa, the capital of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Djibouti city, the capital of The Republic of Djibouti were selected as the official model cities for World Tourism Day celebrations and official hosts of global tourism events.
Both Djibouti and Addis Ababa were in previous years selected as World`s Capital of Culture and Tourism and globally recognized as centers of heritage, tourism and culture.
The city of Addis Ababa had also obtained WORLD`S BEST TOURIST DESTINATION status in 2015 and hosted the World Tourism Awards ceremonies the same year establishing himself as a powerful tourism and cultural center of Africa.

Addis Ababa and Djibouti have won the honor to be global examples in the tourism and cultural world for 2024.
On the venue of the same world tourism gathering the WORLD TOURISM DAY 2024 theme was decided to be Tourism: Building a better future! Building a better world!
The theme is destined not only to enliven tourism during 2024, but also to emphasize that tourism must be used as a base for fostering friendship among nations, building peace and supporting cross-border cooperation and development of tourism projects.
Tourism must be used as a tool to bring peoples and cultures and religions together in building prosperity and development and giving nations a way to rebuild bridges of friendship, in fostering common knowledge and appreciation of cultural and tourism potential and in offering cooperation opportunities in large tourism projects ( Professor Dr. Anton Caragea-ECTT President.
